Library Manager

Position opening - Staatsburg Library: Seeking Library Manager for the Staatsburg Library District. The Library is located in the hamlet of Staatsburg, and emphasizes community involvement in a welcoming atmosphere. Approximately 25 hours/week, including some evening and Saturday hours. The Library Manager reports directly to the Board of Trustees, and has responsibility for all library operations, including supervising staff, overseeing budget, purchasing, and operation of the library's building and grounds. The Manager will initiate and oversee adult programs and work with a Children's/Youth Program coordinator. The position includes some circulation desk work. Library experience necessary. Winter Sun Farms

Farm to Table Copackers (F2T) is a new full service contract packaging facility that is located in Kingston NY. The production kitchen is a USDA inspected facility that maintains HACCP plans and is migrating towards SQF. F2T produces a wide range of specialty food for its clients; from frozen soups, granola, quiches, cookies, pesto, pickles, chili’s, frozen vegetables and more.

F2T is looking for a qualified assistant production manager.

 

Tasks included in this job are:

           planning and prepping production runs

           purchasing ingredients and tracking inventory 

           supervising and managing a production crew

           collecting production data and tracking production costs

           analyzing production data

           maintain quality at the highest level 

Required skills:

           ability to work and problem solve independently

           fluent in English and Spanish

           excellent computer and analytical skills, including use of spreadsheets

           experience in the field of food production and in a high pressure environment

 

This full-time position needs to be filled immediately. Candidate must live in the area. Compensation will be in the $25,000 - $35,000 range based on experience and skill set.

Part Time Position (STEP ONE)

Step One has an opening in it’s Highland Clinic for an Alcoholism Counselor with proven experience working with adolescents. Excellent group skills, computer skills, and organizational skills required. This is a Monday through Wednesday part time position. Competitive salary based on experience and credentials. Candidate will be asked to co-lead some groups as part of the interviewing process. Step One has had an active summer. We have had our annual client picnic barbeques in Ellenville and Highland.  Both were a success with much sharing and celebration of sobriety.

Sojourner Truth Library ~ Head of Information Systems

SUNY New Paltz seeks a creative, energetic, and collegial individual to serve as Head of Information Systems to provide leadership for the planning, expansion, and delivery of innovative library services in support of the learning, teaching, and research mission of the College.  This position is responsible for the overall direction, administration, and management of all library systems and information technologies. Specifically, the incumbent will serve as system administrator for the library's integrated system (Aleph), enhance and monitor the library's web site, supervise computer staff in equipment maintenance, oversee the applications for interlibrary loan and electronic reserves, implement new initiatives to streamline operations and improve existing services, and provide expertise in the areas of emerging technologies. The College is currently embarking on a major library renovation and revitalization project.  The incumbent will have the opportunity to play a key role in planning and developing a new Information Commons to be part of the library renovation, scheduled for completion in 2012.

 

Reporting to the Dean of the Library, the incumbent will train and supervise computer support staff in installing and maintaining library hardware and software, work collaboratively with library colleagues in planning and promoting new technologies, build partnerships with other IT staff on campus, communicate with vendors, and represent the library effectively on campus- and SUNY-wide technological initiatives.  He or she will also participate in reference service and the library liaison program as a member of the Library Faculty.

 

This is a two-year appointment, renewable, tenure track position, which will be filled at the Senior Assistant Librarian or Associate Librarian level depending on qualifications and experience. Salary is commensurable with experience and qualifications.

Qualifications:

  • ALA accredited master's degree in library/information science.
  •  
    Two or more years of professional experience, preferably in an academic library setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing integrated library systems (preferably Aleph 500) and complex technological projects.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Windows & UNIX operating systems and common scripting languages (e.g., HTML, PHP, JavaScript, etc.)
  • Knowledge of current library technologies, applications, utility tools, standards, and best practices.
  • Understanding of bibliographic record structures and library workflows.
  • Supervisory experience and the ability to work and to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) in a team-based and user-centered environment.
  • Flexibility, creativity, and the ability to prioritize and to meet deadlines.
  • Physical ability to move about through a three-floor building and to handle the tools of the trade, such as keyboard and computers.

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the U.S. (U.S. citizenship or Permanent Resident).

Visitor Services Assistant

Historic Huguenot Street in New Paltz is seeking candidates for the position of Visitor Services Assistant. This is a temporary seasonal position, 30-40 hours per week from May 15th through December. The Visitor Services Assistant will work directly with the Director of Visitor Services to assist in running Historic Huguenot Street educational and public programs, events, and daily tours, as well as staff the Museum Shop.

Customer service and/or office background required. Non-profit and/or museum experience strongly preferred. Strong organizational, public speaking, and interpersonal skills a must. Ability to problem-solve and work collaboratively and diplomatically with co-workers, volunteers, and

community members. Commitment to the organization's mission, goals, and standards required. Weekend and evening availability required. Preference will be given to applicants with History, Public History, Museum Studies, and/or business degrees.
